We have been keeping Llamas for over 7 years and could not imagine our lives without them. Llamas are very inquisitive animals and will often follow us around the fields to see what we are doing. If the dogs are walking with us, the Llamas will ensure that do not stray to close to any young cria in the fields. They communicate by humming gently to each other and should something warrant attention they will sound an alarm call to alert the whole herd.
All our llamas birth easily and no assistance is necessary. We keep a watchful eye on the new born until they are up on their feet and suckling which normally occurs within 20 minutes of the cria being born.

Like all animals, llamas will differ slightly in conformation and behavioural characteristics. We watch our llamas very carefully and note the development of characteristics which may make them more suited to a particular task such as breeding, trekking, guarding etc.
All our llamas are of the classic style and have medium length coats. Whilst many see long coats as desirable, long coats take an enormous amount of time to maintain and keep in good condition.
These are pictures of our Llama herd enjoying themselves at pasture last summer.
